   The first plant breeding station in Latvia founded by the state (1922) having more than 80 years long experience in cereal breeding, seed production and field-crop cultivation.
   During its existence the station has given Latvian agriculturalists more than 60 varieties of field crops.
   Presently in Latvia there have been grown 16 varieties of barley, oats, wheat and red clover developed in Stende and registered in Plant Variety List. The most popular among them are:

barley ‘Abava’
barley ‘Ansis’
oat ‘Laima’
red clover ‘Stendes agrais’

   It is the only field management research centre in Kurzeme region famous with knowing specialists, organized seminars and traditional Field days in Stende.
   As a training farm, we readily share our experience and show the latest achievements to young agriculturalists.
   We are stable in our traditions (J.Lielmanis prize), always ready of using opportunities (ENVIRFOOD) and realizing new challenges (reorganization).
